Plan International Benin

Plan International Benin stands with girls to tear down barriers, save lives and build a world where equality for girls leads to progress for all.

In Benin, girls and infants are dying from preventable causes: 96 out of every 1,000 children.

Girls, adolescents and young people face sexual and reproductive health risks due to limited education. 9,369 teenage pregnancies were recorded in secondary schools between 2016 and 2020. This leads to girls dropping out of school and increased maternal mortality.

Girls face financial and food insecurity: 3.25% of young people aged 15 to 24 are unemployed, 72% are not getting enough work, and in the north, households experience phase 3 food and nutrition insecurity due to safety and climate crises. We must take action.

We support every part of a girl’s world: education, health, safety, job opportunities and the freedom to shape their own futures. With families, communities and local organisations, we help dismantle what holds girls back so change can last.

When girls lead, communities rise. In Benin, girls are staying in school, taking charge of their health and driving change in their communities.

Together with locally‑led groups, we ensure this progress continues — because when girls lead, progress spreads to families and communities.

We won’t stop until we are all equal.

We stand with girls in every part of their world by:
  • Supporting girls and young people to learn the skills they need to get good jobs or build businesses that will last and are good for the environment.
